Applecart to Provide Innovative Technology Solution
AUTOSPORT TO BECOME EUROPE'S FIRST ACTIVEMAGAZINE CLIENT
London - 2 September 2003 - Applecart Solutions, a leading reseller of software, announced today that Autosport, the world's leading motorsport magazine published by Haymarket, has become the first European publication to sign up for Olive Software's ActiveMagazine technology as distributed by Applecart.
Applecart recently announced an exclusive marketing agreement with Olive Software, leader in the emerging electronic publishing industry, to sell and support Olive's ActiveMagazine™ product suite throughout the United Kingdom.
Taking advantage of ActiveMagazine's innovative technology, Applecart will create an interactive version of Autosport with the look and feel of a hard-copy publication. Users can view, zoom, print, and turn pages, and even experience animation or video. Content will be available to subscribers both on and offline days before the printed version, with email alerts notifying them when content has been updated. Readers benefit from one point of access to the online publication via the existing Autosport website, cross-platform compatibility and no necessary software downloads.
A unique offering in the publishing business, ActiveMagazine utilises artificial intelligence to 'learn' the content and layout of a publication, without changes to the existing workflow. Autosport will benefit from a bespoke authentication mechanism provided by Applecart and non-proprietary data formats with pdfs converted to XML. The advanced rich media capabilities will also enable Autosport and it's advertisers to gain from significantly expanded marketing opportunities.
"I am thrilled Haymarket have chosen to partner with Applecart to make Autosport the first publication to take advantage of ActiveMagazine in Europe." said Dominic Duffy managing director of Applecart. " Autosport's decision to choose Applecart, and by extension ActiveMagazine, represents a great vindication of this technology and a bold recognition of the extensive new business opportunities that can be realised by this radical distribution method."
"Applecart is far more than just a software distributor. Haymarket Publishing went to Applecart with a list of problems on how to maximise and expand our current reader offerings. Applecart took the problem away and came back to us with a unique package concentrating on the use of ActiveMagazine," said Simon Daukes, managing director at Haymarket Publishing. "With no need for complicated downloads and its integration with our established Autosport.com website, ActiveMagazine is an ideal solution to the challenges of increasing distribution."
